A cyclic synthetic analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, and a non-selective agonist at the melanocortin receptors MC1R, MC3R and MC4R. The lactam bridge between the Asp and Lys side chains locks the peptide into a cyclic conformation, which is the structural feature separating it from linear α-MSH analogs in receptor-binding work.
Presentation and storage
Supplied lyophilized in a sealed vial under vacuum. Store the sealed vial at −20 °C for long-term storage; refrigeration at 2–8 °C is adequate over shorter periods. Keep away from light and moisture.
Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening, so atmospheric moisture does not condense onto the powder.
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. Direct the diluent down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the powder, and swirl gently — do not shake, as agitation can denature the peptide.
